I might have laughed if you had told me years ago that I’d be launching my own coffee company while pursuing a doctorate, leading programs at my school, and raising two amazing children. But here I am, building KenDer Rise Coffee Co., one roast at a time.

The heart of this brand beats with purpose. It’s not just coffee. It’s legacy.

KenDer is a blend of my children’s names—Kennedi and Derrick. The “Rise” stands for so much more than waking up. It’s about rising through adversity, rising into purpose, and helping others rise, too.

This company was dreamed up during long, reflective mornings during the pandemic. Coffee became my comfort, my ritual, and my space to plan a better future. I started asking: What if I could create something that not only fuels people’s mornings but also honors my story?

I’ve always believed in the power of community, and every blend we offer is rooted in that belief. Our taglines aren’t just slogans—they’re promises:
